Biography

I didn’t pick the spud life, the spud life picked me.

Following in the tracks of my Dad, I joined the Potato Industry shortly after leaving School. Thirty years separate our time as agronomists, but the everyday challenges discussed over dinner, are not so different. Solutions, in some regards have come on a great deal but getting the basics right is still essential before being able to take advantage of any new technologies or philosophies.

I am now approaching 10 years in the potato Industry, predominantly at Greenvale & Produce Solutions, and have been fortunate enough to work across a number of different supply sectors. I enjoy being involved throughout the crop cycle as it enables me to see the whole picture when giving advice. I get a buzz from problem solving and I like to put a lot of attention in the planning phase as so much can be won and lost before that first seed potato gets placed into the ground.

I have completed BASIS & FACTS and a number of specialist potato courses at CUF, SASA and Cranfield University. In more recent history I joined Prime in March 2021 with the ambition to build some arable experience as well as explore some new avenues in the potato industry.
